Role Overview
The Process Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust process management and quality systems to ensure consistent product quality and operational excellence across the organization. This role partners closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, and Purchasing to align Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), reduce process variation, and proactively manage risk through tools such as PFMEA.
The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards, and act as a key contributor to cross-functional quality alignment within a multi-department manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Process Management & Continuous Improvement
- Develop, monitor, and improve manufacturing processes to ensure consistent quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
- Identify process variability and lead root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, and statistical methods.
- Support lean manufacturing, waste reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives across production lines.
- Define and monitor key process metrics (KPIs) and implement corrective actions when targets are not met.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Create, maintain, and revise Quality and Process SOPs to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance.
- Align SOPs across departments (Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Operations) to ensure standardized practices.
- Ensure documentation reflects current processes and supports training, audits, and operational needs.
- Drive adherence to SOPs through collaboration, training, and process audits.
- Quality Systems & Compliance
- Support and maintain the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with internal standards and applicable industry regulations.
- Participate in internal and external audits; support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities.
- Ensure quality requirements are embedded into manufacturing and process design.
- PFMEA & Risk Management
- Lead and facilitate Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) sessions for new and existing processes.
- Identify potential failure modes, assess risks, and implement mitigation and control plans.
- Ensure PFMEA outputs are integrated into control plans, work instructions, and quality checks.
- Periodically review and update PFMEAs based on process changes, defects, or customer feedback.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as a quality and process subject matter expert for cross-functional teams.
- Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing during new product or process introductions.
- Support supplier or customer-related quality initiatives, as needed.
- Travel to other sites or suppliers approximately five times per year to support quality and process alignment.
Qualifications
- Preferred: 3–7 years of experience in a quality or process engineering role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience with process management, SOP development, and quality systems.
- Hands-on experience with PFMEA and risk-based quality tools.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality standards.
Bonus Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement certification (Green Belt or higher).
- Experience supporting multi-department manufacturing operations.
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and data-driven problem solving.
- Experience working in regulated or high-reliability manufacturing environments.
